Beachfront Confessional

To all the schooless fishes
Arching their way through an unpassable ocean
In search of unrecognizable freedom:

I feel the world changing on me
The undefined morals shift beneath my feet
Raging through centuries and hot air
Like shells in the sand, they lead nowhere

I want to care, I promise
I want to feel my soul swim to shore
And float through the effervescent sunlight
I want to know that I'm alright
That the paradise's brightest sights
Will belong to me someday

The passage of time recedes
Like a vagrant sort of tide
But I must confide, it's always there

There's always a clock the size of Atlantis
With column-esque legs chasing my boat
Id jump in the water, but I can't float
Not even in the calmest ravenous waves

I can't synthesize my truest desires
For they remain chained to my deepest fears
An absolute rejection rages like fire
And the ensuing dejection is crawling near
Haunt me, haunt me, just leave me here

Leave me to drown in the shallow waters
The opaque vagueness won't lead me home
The crabs won't decide my incisive future
Now will they bury my brittle bones

But I must confess
The girl in the leopard print bikini
Has a way of sculpting a thin smile
Out of the driest sand
May she dress however the sirens dress
And adorn my soul's great trial
